Inside CHIME: Transforming Care by Transforming Leaders
2.2.17 by Amy McDonald, CHIME CommunicationsCHIME-HIMSS CIO Forum challenges attendees to become leaders of change in their fields.
The push to a value-based delivery model. The need to capture, analyze and, most importantly, act on date (preferably in real time). Protecting IT systems from the constant assault of cyber criminals. These are definitely unprecedented times in health IT and CIOs need to be at the top of their game.
For 25 years, CHIME has championed the role of the CIO as an agent of change. That’s never been more true than now. Across your organizations, clinicians and fellow executives are looking to CIOs to not just support change, but to drive innovation.
With your needs as health IT leaders in mind, the CHIME-HIMSS CIO Forum, February 18-19 in Orlando, will focus on change leadership. The meeting will have the same member focus that you’ve come to expect from other CHIME programs, including the Fall CIO Forum.
This year’s meeting is about helping members “move away from managing change within their organizations to actually leading change for their teams and other members of the C-Suite,” said CHIME Director of Education Summer O’Neill.
Attendees will not only hear expert insights on the most pressing issues of the industry, but will gain real-world tips to take back to organizations; they’ll gain a greater understanding of innovations that can drive the industry forward.
Keynote topics will zero in on cybersecurity – Kevin Mitnick, formerly on the FBI’s Most Wanted list, will demonstrate just how vulnerable our IT systems are and offer some guidance for how we can shore up defenses. You’ll also hear how big data and analytics can improve patient care; explore ways in which the Internet of Things is transforming the patient-provider relationship; and learn about new ways to transform end-of-life care.
During HIMSS17, CHIME Foundation firms will host three days of CIO Focus Groups. These are a great time to digest ideas discussed in the forum, as well as share expertise and insights with fellow CHIME members and partners across the industry. Focus groups take place every two hours starting at 8:00 am, February 20-22.
And of course, there will be several networking opportunities for CHIME members in Orlando, starting with the CIO Forum Golf Outing, Saturday, February 18, at Shining Creek Golf Club. The opening reception takes place later that evening.
The 2017 CHIME-HIMSS CIO Forum will not only be a time to connect with friends and recharge, but, importantly, to continue your journey to becoming an exception leader transforming healthcare.

Avaap Named Category Leader in 2017 Best in KLAS Awards for Revenue Cycle Optimization
EDISON, NJ – February 1, 2017 — Avaap, among the largest systems integrators for Infor ERP and Epic EHR, today announced it was named a 2017 Category Leader for revenue cycle optimization. Avaap earned a score of 95.3, the highest in the report’s revenue cycle management category.
Avaap EHR is focused on Epic software and provides clinical and revenue cycle transformation services, helping healthcare organizations leverage IT to improve clinical and financial outcomes. Avaap EHR services help increase physician efficiency as well as satisfaction with EHR systems and ensure revenue cycle management tools are optimized to protect the financial health of hospital organizations.
“We are delighted to be recognized by KLAS as a category leader in revenue cycle optimization, especially as the designation is awarded based on customer feedback” said Dhiraj Shah, CEO, Avaap. “Avaap was built on innovation and the KLAS award reflects exactly what customers want in a systems integrator: a partner that enables their organization to use technology solutions to support efficient interactions, a more engaging patient and provider experience, and lower AR days with the ability to capture greater revenue.”
With the move from volume- to value-based care, EHR technology plays an increasingly critical role in ensuring healthcare organizations have access to data and the visibility needed to make informed business and clinical decisions. As the shift toward value-based care progresses, optimizing revenue cycle management can provide greater insight into key performance indicators such as cash availability and resource utilization.
“Many organizations lack the infrastructure and business processes that enable them to have a true understanding of the cost of care,” added Shah. “As a KLAS category leader for revenue cycle optimization, we’re on a mission to help healthcare organizations minimize inefficient billing procedures that lead to payment delays or denials and create efficiencies along with streamlined workflows that drive bottom-line results.”
