Allscripts partners with Nurse Heroes to support and honor frontline workers
Initiative addresses the accelerating shortage of nurses in the workforce and provides programs including scholarships for nurses and their children
CHICAGO – November 23, 2020 – Allscripts Healthcare Solutions (NASDAQ MDRX) announced today that the Company is an ambassador for Nurse Heroes, a new initiative created to recognize and honor nurses, while also helping educate and empower them for their careers. Through this partnership, Allscripts supports Nurse Heroes in providing scholarships for nurses to either begin nursing school or complete higher-ed certification programs for medical career advancement.
Allscripts joins motivated philanthropists, media organizations, celebrities and healthcare institutions to honor Nurse Heroes through a Thanksgiving Day virtual concert experience airing on NBC. Entertainers including Celine Dion, Stevie Wonder, Josh Groban, Marc Anthony and the Black Eyed Peas will join host Whoopi Goldberg and special guests Billy Crystal and Oprah Winfrey for the celebration of Nurse Heroes.
The Nurse Heroes campaign celebrates 2020 as the bicentennial legacy of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. The bicentennial comes at a time when nurses serve as frontline caretakers for the millions afflicted with COVID-19, supporting doctors through life-saving care and being there to comfort patients during times of fear and sorrow. However, according to Nurse Heroes, the world is currently facing an accelerating shortage of nurses. If the trend continues at this pace, it is estimated that there will be approximately one million fewer nurses than needed by 2022. Nurse Heroes hopes to reverse this by offering significant and tangible support to new and existing nurses.
“Now, more than ever, there is an urgency to support our nurses and their families,” said Allscripts Chief Executive Officer, Paul Black. “Giving back, to our community and to our world, is a distinct part of the Allscripts culture, and is at the core of who we are. Through our partnership with Nurses Heroes, Allscripts is proud to help address the accelerating shortage of nurses in the workforce and provide scholarships to some of the most fundamental clinicians in the industry.”

Veradigm and HealthVerity Expand Existing Partnership with Novel Linked Real-World Data Packages
Two solutions will initiate this extended collaboration focused on the linking of real-world data to both clinical trial data and specific therapeutic area data.
CHICAGO – November 17, 2020 – Veradigm®, an Allscripts (NASDAQ: MDRX) business unit leading the industry with real-world data and analytic solutions, and HealthVerity, the leader in privacy-protected data exchange, today announced that they have entered into a strategic partnership that extends the companies’ current relationship. The initial focus is on the development of innovative HIPAA-compliant data products created by linking real-world data from a variety of leading sources. In addition to generalized real-world data linking capabilities, the companies will focus on addressing specific industry needs by enabling clients to design linked data solutions that are fit-for-purpose. Initially the companies will focus on two areas: linking real-world data within specific therapeutic areas (TAs) and a clinical research solution linking real-world data to clinical trial data.
These data packages are created by seamlessly linking data from Veradigm’s expansive electronic health records (EHR) registry and medical and pharmacy claims data, with lab, and other real-world data sources, including pharmacy and hospital chargemaster, depending on client-specific needs. Veradigm will leverage HealthVerity Marketplace, the nation’s largest ecosystem of healthcare and consumer data, to collaborate with owners of other real-world data sources, as necessary, providing turnkey linked data packages that are fit-for-purpose. The initial data package for COVID-19 is currently available, linking EHR, medical and pharmacy claims and lab data, offering unsurpassed data recency. Data for flu and/or other respiratory diseases can be included as requested. Future packages will focus on cardiometabolic disorders, autoimmune disorders and other TAs of interest.
In addition, the companies are offering a solution focused on the linkage of clinical trial data to real-world data. With HealthVerity Census, the near real-time identity resolution and matching technology, pharmaceutical trial data is tokenized with a unique and consistent identifier and subsequently linked to Veradigm’s EHR, claims and other broad-based data sources in a HIPAA-compliant manner. This linked solution creates a rich, robust and readily accessible dataset that can be delivered daily to better characterize the trial population, identify safety signals, and potentially provide evidence supporting secondary endpoints. Veradigm and HealthVerity will work closely with study sponsors to customize this solution to meet the objectives of each research project.
This collaboration into fit-for-purpose data packages builds upon a long-standing relationship between Veradigm and HealthVerity. By leveraging HealthVerity’s state-of-the-art platform, Veradigm has been able to unify all its data assets into common data models, ensuring interoperability across the HealthVerity data ecosystem. And, Veradigm provides HealthVerity with a large and rich source of clinical and claims data to include within its growing data ecosystem. The partnership provides an ability to develop unique solutions that are tailored to the needs of the market.
“We recognize that linked data from different sources creates a more complete view of the patient journey, but the linking process is resource-intensive and protecting privacy is of utmost importance,” said Tom Langan, CEO of Veradigm. “By working with HealthVerity and other leading real-world data suppliers, we can provide privacy-protected, turnkey, linked data solutions that solve intractable problems.”
“Given the interest our clients have in better understanding specific patient populations that require a longitudinal view of the patient journey, combined with deeper clinical granularity, our growing partnership with Veradigm helps continuously meet those needs,” said Andrew Kress, CEO and cofounder of HealthVerity. “Supporting Veradigm in both its internal and external data privacy and data management strategy is a great starting point to enable this ability for additional clients that require the same level of HIPAA-compliance and interoperability.”

Penn Medicine and Comcast/Independence Health’s Quil Come Together to Provide Patients with a ‘Digital Front Door’
Internationally recognized leaders in health care and connectivity partner with Quil platform to customize and enhance care and patient education through video and digital communication
Philadelphia, Pa. November 17, 2020 — In this era, when you don’t know how to do something, you look it up on the internet. It could be a home improvement project or figuring out your car tire’s optimal pressure: you find a how-to video, a bulleted list of instructions, or download a helpful app to figure it out. Then, with a little more confidence than you had before, you tackle the job.
With that in mind, a new partnership between Penn Medicine and Quil is giving patients access to those same digital tools they’re accustomed to using to educate and prepare themselves for important health care needs. These tools will give them an opportunity to more confidently approach their own care in partnership with their trusted healthcare providers.
By joining forces with Quil, a company formed by Comcast and Independence Health Group, Penn Medicine hopes to deliver a “digital front door” for a better patient experience before and after surgeries and other medical procedures, and in managing long-term health conditions, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Doctors can recommend the Quil Engage app to their patients, who will then receive notifications for their personalized guides, called “journeys,” leading them to instructional step-by-step videos, interactive quizzes and checklists, links to schedule necessary appointments, and FAQs, among other helpful tools and resources. The tools will be easily accessible through whichever device a patient chooses – whether that’s through their phone or computer, or even their television – and each notification is timed to meet the patient at the exact point in their health care journey when they will need the information.
“We are committed to offering new solutions to help our entire patient community at all points in the continuum of care. Our mission to provide outstanding patient care throughout the world requires a focus on health literacy, which we know is tightly linked to patients’ ability to manage their care and make the choices to keep them well,” said University of Pennsylvania Health System CEO Kevin B. Mahoney. “Importantly, this partnership widens the door to maintaining health at home, which is an increasing focus of our work to prevent and manage chronic conditions and ensure safe recoveries after hospitalizations.”
Quil began its partnership with Penn Medicine in 2018 while developing what would become Engage. In April 2019, a pilot program testing the platform with surgeons in the Penn Medicine Department of Orthopaedic Surgery enrolled more than 900 total hip and knee replacement patients. Among them, the total length of time they stayed in the hospital after their procedures was 14 percent shorter than the goal, and the rate of discharge to home instead of physical rehabilitation facilities was 22 percent better than the department’s goal.
The system aims to provide education on procedures, like the joint replacements in the pilot program, life events such as pregnancy, and programs to support health goals like nutrition and weight loss. All of these paths are designed to guide patients through their health care experiences in partnership with family and friends.
“It’s a great privilege to continue to build our partnership with Penn Medicine and get digital tools in the hands of more patients and their caregivers,” said Quil CEO Carina Edwards. “We are excited to keep acting on our shared vision and are dedicated to bringing this work forward to serve our community. Offering a personal, empowering, and inspiring experience is at the heart of what we do.”
An example of a typical patient “journey” in the platform for someone having knee replacement surgery includes pre-op messages from Quil weeks in advance that include videos on, for instance, what to expect during the hospital stay and guides for caring for the incision site, as well as pre- and post-op surveys. Immediately after surgery, to support bedside care, the patient receives instructional videos on getting in and out of bed and using a cane. Later, messages will be timed to reach the patient when they progressively reach different stages of physical rehabilitation, including videos showing exactly how to properly perform exercises such as heel slides or mini squats without aggravating the joint.
As a patient engages with a “journey” like this on Quil, their care team will be able to track their progress and receive notifications of benchmarks or setbacks to track patients’ progress and potentially intervene to stave off complications. For example, if they learn that a patient hasn’t watched a video on a certain exercise, the team can send a message to the patient ensuring that they’re taking part in the exercise, or to ascertain why they may not be.
Together, Penn Medicine and Quil look forward to improving patient outcomes like these across a wide swath of specialties. Ultimately, they hope to develop Engage to the point that it can become the standard of care for patient education across the entire health system – and drive adoption of the technology at other hospitals nationwide.
“An informed patient is a patient that already has a leg up on their health,” said C. William Hanson III, MD, chief medical information officer at Penn Medicine. “We believe that this system, using technology that meets patients where they are, will greatly enhance the ability to create more informed and engaged patients. At the same time, we expect this to give providers a greater insight to the people they care for, how they maintain their health, and where they could use a little more help to stay well.”

COVID-19 Vaccine Logistics Underscore the Need for a National Patient ID Strategy
ANN ARBOR, MI, Nov. 19, 2020 – The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), along with the Patient ID Now Coalition, is urging stakeholders to take action by reaching out to their senators in support of repealing the longstanding appropriations ban on a unique patient identifier standard. The call to action is one of several advocacy initiatives launched by CHIME this week to continue an awareness campaign that kicked off on Nov. 18, which CHIME and the coalition have named “Patient ID Day.”With two viable COVID-19 vaccine candidates showing positive results in Phase 3 clinical trials, having a vaccine available in the U.S. in the near future is looking promising. This modern medical triumph will be jeopardized though if there is not a reliable and safe national patient identification strategy. If clinicians can accurately match patients to their healthcare records, they will be confident that they gave the right patient the right dose in the right order at the right time. Creating the vaccine is only the first step in beating COVID-19. It is only through successful vaccination administration that the U.S. will be able to truly put the pandemic behind us. Properly matching patients with their medical records will be crucial to solving rapid vaccination tracking requirements.“While continued incremental changes are being proposed to increase the matching accuracy rate, these are only small steps toward making care safer for patients. The magnitude of the COVID-19 pandemic calls for rapid change to ensure patients are safely and correctly vaccinated in as fast a manner as possible when the vaccine becomes available,” said CHIME President and CEO Russell P. Branzell. “Thanks to the efforts of our members and our Patient ID Now partners, we have made progress in Congress with having the archaic ban that blocks funding for a unique patient identifier removed from House appropriations bills. Now it is the time for the Senate to act.”CHIME has long advocated for a national patient identification system to protect patients from harms that occur through misidentifications resulting in different patient records getting commingled and duplicate patient records. CHIME will continue to prioritize this work throughout the pandemic and into the future until there is a permanent solution. More information about the issue is available on the Patient ID Now website. CHIME also offers information and resources on the CHIME website here.About CHIMEThe College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) is an executive organization dedicated to serving chief information officers (CIOs), chief medical information officers (CMIOs), chief nursing information officers (CNIOs), chief innovation officers (CIOs), chief digital officers (CDOs) and other senior healthcare IT leaders. Stoltenberg Consulting Inc., a leading healthcare IT consulting firm, announced today that Erin Osbourn is the 2020 recipient of the Stoltenberg Future Fund Scholarship for secondary education through the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). Osbourn serves as the CIO and CISO of the New York Hotel Trades Council & The Hotel Association of New York City Employee Benefit Funds. The non-profit organization provides the health plan and ambulatory health care services for the hotel workers of New York City.
The Stoltenberg Future Fund awards scholarships annually through the CHIME Education Foundation for recipient use at any of CHIME’s educational events, including the Healthcare CIO Boot Camp, Fall CIO Forum and CHIME Spring CIO Forum, or toward formal secondary education tuition and related expenses. The scholarship program aims to funnel necessary IT leadership expertise into healthcare organizations to impact meaningful patient outcomes, clinical care safety and secure data capture, while advancing more consumer-driven patient experiences. The need has especially been noted as many organizations have been forced to cut secondary education tuition reimbursement programs amid COVID-19 budgetary concerns.
“IT departments have a critical role to play in making healthcare more accessible and responsive for patients. I’m pursuing a mid-career master’s degree to better understand the major challenges CIOs are facing, from cybersecurity threats, choosing the right technology for the organization’s mission, and improving data exchange and interoperability,” Osbourn said. “I’m also passionate about building diverse and inclusive IT teams, and nurturing the growth of future leaders in our industry. I’m so grateful to CHIME and Stoltenberg Consulting for their support.”
Stoltenberg Consulting pledged $50,000 to the CHIME Education Foundation over a span of 25 years. Osbourn stands as the 12th scholarship recipient from the Stoltenberg Future Fund program since its inception in 2009. To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be CHIME members in good standing, express need for financial support for continuing education and describe their professional accomplishments and aspirations in the healthcare IT industry. Previous recipients include IT leaders from Ascension Saint Thomas, Dayton Children’s Hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital, UNC Health Care, Brooke Army Medical Center, and Jackson Health System.
Osbourn has been in the health IT industry for 12 years. She was appointed CIO and CISO of the New York Hotel Trades Council & The Hotel Association of New York City Employee Benefit Funds in 2017, serving as the first woman and youngest person to ever hold the roles. She oversees the Information Technology department spanning infrastructure, networking, telephony, hardware, clinical application and benefits software. Among her many contributions during her tenure, she has established a NIST-based cybersecurity program, served as the HIPAA security officer overseeing policy and procedure development, directed an enterprise-wide risk management program, and successfully contained and controlled a major cybersecurity incident. Osbourn plans to utilize the scholarship award toward her tuition at Boston University, where she is pursuing her master’s degree in computer information systems with a concentration in healthcare informatics.
Stoltenberg has been an active CHIME Foundation firm for 13 years. Additional continuing education endeavors include the Consultant Development Program for recent undergraduate college graduates, which offers mentorship, vendor training and hands-on experience in the competitive health IT industry.

2020 Digital Health Most Wired Trends Report Shows Gains Across the Industry
ANN ARBOR, Nov. 16, 2020 – Digital health is advancing across the industry, according to an analysis of 2020 data from the CHIME Digital Health Most Wired survey, with telehealth making strong gains and greater adoption of solutions that support value-based care, population health, patient and clinician engagement, and security. The findings were published this month in the annual Digital Health Most Wired National Trends report, which is free and available online on the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) website.Key findings include:- The usage and adoption of telehealth more than doubled between 2019 and 2020.
- As healthcare shifts to a consumer-focused model, price transparency is becoming even more critical.
- Population health management (PHM) activities have risen dramatically, with an average 18 percentage point bump in the use of tools to support PHM strategies.
- Portals now are commonly accessed by patients, and almost all organizations offer mobile app capabilities.
- Hospitals and healthcare systems are leveraging EHRs for timely clinician alerts.
- The adoption of artificial intelligence is steadily increasing.
- About one third of organizations have adopted all the components of a comprehensive security program in 2020, up from 24% last year.
“We are seeing progress across the board in the adoption of digital health strategies that improve health and care,” said CHIME President and CEO Russell P. Branzell. “The survey covers multiple categories to assess how effectively and where healthcare organizations are advancing on their digital health journeys. Some categories like telehealth saw significant increases in adoption and usage while others like cybersecurity advanced more modestly. Overall, the trajectory is positive with top performers setting standards that are driving the industry forward.”Some organizations already had a telehealth foundation in place, which allowed them to quickly scale during the COVID-19 pandemic. About 3 in 10 of Most Wired organizations reported more than 10% of their unique patients used telehealth in 2019. That rate of participation jumped to about 2 in 3 organizations in 2020, with about half of them reporting usage above 25%. Telehealth adoption in most care settings rose by approximately 40 percentage points. With the shift toward the patient as a consumer, many healthcare organizations are expanding their price transparency capabilities. Nearly two thirds of respondents have adopted technologies to facilitate patient payment estimates and 40% have adopted solutions that estimate cost based on insurance type.Every measure for PHM made gains in 2020, with advancements in data aggregation, data analysis, care management, administrative and financial reporting, and patient and clinician engagement. More than 90% of organizations provide patients access and secure communications with clinicians through a portal, and 96% of respondents have a mobile app. More than 80% have integrated clinical surveillance systems with their EHR and many have expanded the types of clinical alerts. About 17% of organizations have fully deployed some version of AI and are getting outcomes and 35% of Most Wired participants reported they are in the process of implementing AI.Cybersecurity showed some improvements, particularly with organizations having a dedicated cybersecurity committee, a dedicated security operations center and a documented risk management program. But only 72% organizations have a designated chief security information officer, a mere 2 percentage point increase from 2019.This year’s survey represented 30,091 facilities, with 754 surveys completed by healthcare organizations in 14 countries. In 2020, CHIME added a long-term care survey to the existing domestic, ambulatory and international survey offerings. The trends report is based on aggregated survey data from U.S. participants. Patient Experience Tops Hospitals’ 2021 Priorities, According to New Lumeon Research
Highlights How COVID-19 Has Forced Patient Access Leadership to Focus on Their Digital Patient Experience
BOSTON – November 10, 2020 – Lumeon, the leader in care automation, today announced the findings of its 2020-2021 U.S. Patient Access Leadership Report. The research uncovers the biggest challenges encountered by patient access leaders during COVID-19 – among them, the fragmentation of the patient experience, processes, and technology. The research also reveals how the pandemic is impacting patient access leaders’ priorities for 2021.
According to the research, patient access leaders say patient experience (90%) and access to care (81%) will be the most important differentiators for winning and retaining patients in 2021, far ahead of attracting top clinical talent (62%), offering patients more services (40%), or adding new services lines (33%).
“As COVID-19 forced health systems to embrace virtual and remote care experiences, patient access leaders were suddenly faced with a critical responsibility: designing better, self-service digital experiences that connect patients to the care they need, when they need it.” said Robbie Hughes, Lumeon CEO. “The pandemic accelerated a shift to thinking about patients as online consumers, who desire the convenient, effortless experiences they’ve become accustomed to through other digitized industries like eCommerce and banking. More than ever, patients are gravitating towards providers who automatically nurture and guide them along their care journeys, using modern digital communication channels.”
While these digital experiences promise a great deal of potential, the path to achieving them is not without challenges. More than half of patient access leaders (57%) believe fragmented processes and technology are preventing them from meeting patient access goals. This fragmentation results in a high volume of manual, repetitive tasks that not only harm the patient experience, but also impede care team productivity. The report shows, for instance, that 72% of providers still manually call waitlisted patients to fill cancelled appointments.
Fragmented care processes are also inhibiting the powerful benefits of telehealth. While the majority of health systems (88%) are offering telehealth, and more than three quarters believe it offers an excellent patient experience, 51% believe that significant improvements are needed to effectively integrate telehealth into the care delivery process.
Though patient access leaders expect 60-70% of visits to take place in-person in 2021, telehealth services are likely to hold steady, with 20-30% of visits expected to be conducted via video, according to the report.
“2020 has brought healthcare to an inflection point, where hybrid care models – combining virtual and in-person experiences – have arrived and are here to stay,” said Hughes. “But there is still work to be done in getting these new models right. The most successful patient access departments will be the ones who can unify and coordinate today’s fragmented hybrid patient experience – tapping into automation, virtual care and decision support tools – to eliminate fragmentation and deliver truly meaningful experiences that ultimately drive better outcomes.”
The report’s findings were based on a survey of 68 total senior leaders responsible for patient access in large hospitals across the United States, each managing more than 25,000 appointments per month. The research consisted of a quantitative survey, shared with 58 patient access leaders, and in-depth interviews conducted with 10 patient access leaders.

Allscripts Client Experience Event connects thousands of attendees virtually from around the world
Company provided more than 135 online sessions, sharing 60 hours of content and raising funds to support efforts to end child hunger
CHICAGO – November 12, 2020 – Allscripts (NASDAQ: MDRX) hosted its 2020 Allscripts Client Experience (ACE) earlier last month, bringing together thousands of the company’s valued clients, strategic partners, associates and Health IT leaders from around the world to discuss industry drivers and trends that impact healthcare organizations today and help prepare them for tomorrow. The virtual conference was the largest-attended ACE in the company’s history, welcoming eleven times the average number of clients who typically participate in the event. Users across all core Allscripts EHR platforms (as well as hundreds currently not using core EHR solutions) from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia attended the conference. Attendees gained insights into key issues shaping the healthcare industry in 2020, including the COVID-19 pandemic and its permanent impact on care delivery.
Clinicians had the opportunity to speak with and hear from an impressive collection of industry thought leaders. During one highly attended session, Dr. Marcus Plescia from the Association of State and Territorial Health Officers (ASTHO), Dr. Emily Gurley from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Dr. Dave Swerdlow from Pfizer discussed the timely topics of COVID-19 testing, contact tracing and vaccine development.
“We’re really going to depend on all of you who are involved in diagnosing and testing for COVID-19 to help us make sure we have good systems to report on COVID results,” Dr. Plescia told Allscripts clients during the panel.
“Getting in touch and being knowledgeable about your local public health response is really useful. Many public health departments have made materials available and have them translated into languages that may be useful. Pointing them to the right resources and having them available if you are seeing patients in real time is a great step to take,” Dr. Gurley said.
In addition, clients shared their successes with Allscripts solutions and the value ACE brought to their organizations.Faith Thompson, MSN RN, RN Clinical Analyst, Clinical Informatics, Hendrick Health shared the power of a full perioperative solution in Allscripts Sunrise™. “Allscripts allows us to integrate all of our surgery systems in a seamless effort,” she said. “We have access to all the critical information, located in one place, in one system. One Patient. One Chart.”
Dr. Jeeny Job, Chief Medical Informatics Officer at St. Barnabas stated how imperative Allscripts patient portal is to its organization. “The FollowMyHealth® solution already had clinical information for patients to access, whether it was the clinical summary of visits, pharmacy information, medication information, or opportunities to secure messages from providers after visits,” she said. “These were all areas of opportunities and value for patients. We thought that adding the video option to the portal as your access to providers created more value to our patients. In just one month, the number of transactions was over 1,600, a huge leap in adoption. The biggest driver of that is the adoption we had for behavioral health patient population. We’ve been really pleased with the adoption so far and we’re increasing those transactions every day.”
Mark Hutchinson, of Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the U.K., discussed the benefits that Allscripts Sunrise provides. “When we were laying the tracks of the system that would take us from a low maturity score to HIMSS Level 6, we knew we had a proven, tried and tested solution with Allscripts’ EPR. It was a flexible system that allowed us to build what we needed ourselves, while being confident that it would always work for us.”
Melissa Huff, Chief Information Officer at Clinics of North Texas, shared how the Allscripts Revenue Cycle Management was the best solution for her organization’s needs. “When looking into a revenue cycle services company that could help us, we had several come on site to discuss,” she said. The Allscripts Revenue Cycle Management staff offered the best product, for the best pricing, and was able to understand our processes right from the start. When Allscripts took over our revenue cycle initiatives they simply hit the ground running. She added, “Working with Allscripts is a true partnership. There is not a day that goes by where we don’t speak to our Revenue Cycle Management Services team. We know that at any time needed, we have a dedicated team we can reach out to. Our collections have increased by 3%. Our payments per encounter have increased. I am frequently asked if I could go back would I engage with Allscripts again. My answer: absolutely, yes! If you asked anybody in our organization I think everyone would tell you we should have made the change much sooner.”
Carol Bahner, from University Hospitals in Cleveland shared her experience at ACE. “What we loved the most about ACE this year was discussing the latest solutions, roadmaps and updates. ACE education content struck just the right balance between focusing on the products and inspiring the health-IT community. The sessions were interactive and provided the latest insights from fellow industry experts.”
Jill Helm of Veradigm participated in a Surescripts sponsored education session entitled, “Medication Cost Conversation – What’s the Hold Up?” The session covered the concept of prescription price transparency (PPT) and how Veradigm’s RxTruePrice solution enables physicians to have the difficult but needed conversation on prescription costs right at the point of prescribing. One session attendee remarked, “Excellent session about PPT and how to implement in real-life practice.”
No Kid Hungry Partnership for GiveBack Initiative
The World Health Organization estimates that by the end of 2020, the pandemic will have caused chronic hunger to increase by approximately 20% globally. During virtual ACE 2020, Allscripts partnered with No Kid Hungry, raising funds to support chronic hunger.
“Allscripts was honored to host thousands of our clients and healthcare thought leaders from around the world for our flagship event, hosted for the first time in a completely virtual environment,” said Allscripts CEO Paul Black. “Bringing together healthcare leaders from various sectors of our industry—especially during such a crucial, challenging time for global healthcare delivery—created engaging discussions that were informative, thought-provoking and inspiring. We look forward to building upon this year’s event with an even more successful ACE in 2021.”

ANN ARBOR, MI, Nov. 10, 2020 – The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) named eight organizations that participated in the 2020 Digital Health Most Wired survey winners of the Superior Performance Excellence Award. The award is designated to organizations that qualify for level 10 certification and successfully complete a validation process. The award winners represent less than 1% of participants in this year’s survey.
Listed alphabetically, the winners are:

- Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, Calif., in the acute and ambulatory categories
- Geisinger Health System in Danville, Penn., in the acute and ambulatory categories

“These outstanding organizations are elevating standards for the healthcare IT industry,” said Russell P. Branzell, CHIME’s president and CEO. “They are the best of the best with phenomenal digital health teams who are transforming health and care. We are honored to recognize them with the highest award given under our Digital Health Most Wired program.”
The CHIME Digital Health Most Wired survey and recognition program encourages innovation in healthcare by assessing the use of advanced technologies that improve health and care, and by recognizing healthcare organizations that move the industry forward. By highlighting best practices, Most Wired provides a road map for all healthcare organizations that strive to meet the highest standards. This year 30,091 facilities were represented – almost double 2019’s total – with 754 surveys completed by healthcare organizations in 14 countries.
CHIME has been steadily growing the Most Wired program since taking it over in 2017 and launching a revised and updated survey in 2018. This year CHIME added a long-term care survey to the existing domestic, ambulatory and international survey offerings. In 2019, CHIME introduced level 1-10 certification for all participants, with special recognition for organizations that achieved levels 7-10. In 2019, three organizations earned level 10 recognition: Avera Health, Cedars-Sinai and UCHealth.
Each of the 2020 Superior Performance Excellence Award recipient organizations will be highlighted, along with a list of all level 7-10 organizations, in a publication scheduled for release during the CHIME20: Digital Recharge virtual forum held Nov. 10-12.
