LeanTaaS Launches Enhanced iQueue Product Suites to Maximize Efficiency for Infusion Centers, Operating Rooms and Hospital Beds
New capabilities to streamline operations for health systems across the U.S. announced during Transform, LeanTaaS’ hospital operations summit
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — June 30, 2021, 2:30pm CST —LeanTaaS, Inc., a leading Silicon Valley based software innovator that increases patient access and transforms operational performance for healthcare providers, today announced new modules for its existing suite of iQueue for Operating Rooms, Infusion Centers, and Inpatient Beds products. The announcement was made at LeanTaaS’ inaugural hospital operations virtual summit, Transform, hosted in partnership with Becker’s Healthcare.
While managing the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects, hospitals had to rapidly increase their use of technology and digital tools. Surgery centers had to reschedule elective procedures as quickly as possible, infusion centers had to continue safely administering life-saving treatments, and managing hospital bed capacity effectively was crucial. With this in mind, LeanTaaS launched enhancements to its existing line of iQueue product suites that combine lean principles and predictive analytics to increase patient access, decrease wait times, and deliver better care at a lower cost, while addressing the specific challenges that had arisen.
The enhanced iQueue capabilities include:
- The new Case Scheduling module in iQueue for Operating Rooms makes it much easier for clinics to schedule OR cases, especially if they are still using manual processes (fax/phone/paper), into both block and open time. This saves clinic and OR scheduling time; alleviates frustration for surgeons, clinics and OR schedulers; reduces errors; and increases OR utilization during staffed hours. The module supports end-to-end, paperless completion of the surgical scheduling process by automatically transmitting complete, accurate case information and providing full visibility into surgeon schedules.
This newly launched module has already reduced abandoned calls by 46% and added an additional four cases scheduled daily, on average, per hospital, across a three hospital system. Case Scheduling is a powerful extension to the solution’s existing capabilities, which include significantly improved block management, a user-friendly platform and actionable perioperative analytics. Currently, iQueue for Operating Rooms is used in 2,100 ORs at 200 hospitals and 40 health systems.
- Nurse Planning and Executive Summary are new capabilities in iQueue for Infusion Centers that further enable infusion center executives and managers to make data-driven decisions to set and achieve operational goals. The nurse planning capability allows nurses to make staffing decisions for the next day and week ahead with high confidence levels. The new executive reporting capabilities allow reports to be generated in minutes instead of hours. Clear recommendations are provided for adjustments in daily staffing plans (nurse planning), as well as trend insights and goal guidance for operational metrics (executive summary), leveraging a combination of data science and learnings from iQueue’s hundreds-strong network of infusion centers.
Cancer care executives and managers can use these tools to quickly identify root causes of poor operational outcomes and make decisions to mitigate them, thus improving operating costs as well as patient and nurse satisfaction. iQueue for Infusion Centers is used in 8,500 infusion chairs at 400 infusion centers in 85 health systems.
- iQueue for Inpatient Beds’ new Discharge Toolkit decreases delays for inpatient discharge in inpatient bed units and promotes patient flow. It functions as a real-time progress report for staff by showing current discharge status, in addition to future discharge predictions in all units throughout the day. The toolkit surfaces actionable next best steps as recommendations so that staff know exactly where to focus their efforts to decrease discharge delays and open up additional beds for patients. Recently launched, iQueue for Inpatient Beds has completed Beta trials across 2,000 beds spanning 13 hospitals and two health systems.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has emphasized the importance of resource utilization more than ever for hospitals and health systems across the U.S.,” said Mohan Giridharadas, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, LeanTaaS. “It is innovations like these that allow us to partner deeply with customers and achieve annual topline growth of over 50% each year for the last two years. We are proud of our ability to continuously adapt our product suites to our customers’ evolving needs and provide innovative capabilities that allow them to optimize processes to deliver the care patients deserve.”
LeanTaaS’ solutions have now been deployed in more than 400 hospitals and 110+ health systems across 38 states in the U.S., including 12 of the top 20 hospitals in the U.S according to U.S. News & World Report. These hospitals use the iQueue platform to optimize capacity utilization in infusion centers, operating rooms, and inpatient beds.
“What’s critical with our relationship with iQueue is the ability to find innovative solutions by collaborating with the iQueue support system, which has formed a true partnership,” said Dio Sumagaysay, MSN, RN, Associate CNO, Perioperative Services and Multispecialty Procedure Unit, Oregon Health and Science University. “We’re able to discuss important ideas and questions with the iQueue team such as looking at the flow of inpatient bed capacity and how to tie it into OR capacity – by partnering with LeanTaaS, we are able to determine the best solutions for our team.”
LeanTaaS’ inaugural hospital operations virtual summit, Transform, connected over 1,000 attendees with health system executives, technology leaders and industry experts to discuss optimizing capacity management now and in the future. Clearwater Rated a Top Performing Security & Privacy Consulting Firm in New KLAS Report
CISO Quoted in Report Comments That “We Have Grown as a Program as a Result of Their Services”
NASHVILLE, TN (June 30, 2021) – Clearwater is proud to announce that it is rated a top performer in a new KLAS Research report reviewing market perceptions vs. client reality in the security and privacy consulting services market. The company’s performance rating from clients is second to only one other firm, and Clearwater is also noted to be one of the firms most likely to be perceived by the market as a partner.
KLAS spoke with security and IT leaders from 74 healthcare organizations of various sizes to understand what makes a security and privacy consulting firm a true partner, which firms are perceived to have the strong security services offering that healthcare organizations need, how these perceptions compare to the experiences of actual clients, and how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected healthcare organizations’ security programs. Projects measured under the umbrella of security and privacy consulting services range from high-level strategy projects to annual risk and privacy assessments to technical services, such as security product implementations and penetration testing.
In their summary of feedback received about Clearwater, KLAS researchers state: “In security market, they are recognized as a partner for their responsiveness and peer benchmarking. Industry reputation, good prior experiences, and free educational sessions lead respondents to review Clearwater as strong security option.”
One of the Chief Information Security Officers that KLAS interviewed had the following comment:
“Clearwater’s consultants are very professional. They have a deep knowledge of security risk analysis. Even their junior consultants are like that. I don’t hesitate when I hear that Clearwater is sending out someone that is less senior. Overall, we have always had a great experience with Clearwater. We have grown as a program as a result of their services. Clearwater has helped to infuse and enhance our knowledge base around security risk analysis. They have a very organized methodology. The vendor is very punctual and meets stated commitments and time frames.”
While the report focuses specifically on consulting services, it mentions that Clearwater also provides software and managed services that contribute to its strong performance and reputation.
“Strong cybersecurity partners have never been more needed in healthcare, and we are very gratified to be recognized as one in this new KLAS report, “says Clearwater CEO Steve Cagle. “Our most important value at Clearwater is our commitment to customer success. This independent KLAS report reflects the high levels of expertise, quality, and partnership we strive to bring to each engagement. The experience and expertise of our consulting team combined with the innovative, data-driven capabilities of our software platform IRM|Pro® provides our customers with a powerful ally in securing their organizations from a rapidly evolving threat landscape.”

Censinet Delivers First Healthcare Industry Cybersecurity Risk Assessment Workflows for Research & Institutional Review Boards
Censinet RiskOps for Research & IRB Eliminates Antiquated, Risk-Prone or Non-Existent Approaches to Protecting Patient Data
BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS – June 29, 2021 – Censinet, the leading provider of healthcare IT risk solutions, today announced a significant expansion of its Censinet RiskOps platform with the formalized introduction of intelligence and workflows that address the cybersecurity requirements of healthcare research, including research overseen by an Institutional Review Board (IRB). Under FDA regulations, an IRB is an appropriately constituted group that has been formally designated to review and monitor biomedical research involving human subjects.
“The addition of Research & IRB capabilities into Censinet RiskOps addresses a major vulnerability for many organizations and enables our healthcare providers to deliver more continuous coverage to drive down their risk significantly,” said Ed Gaudet, CEO and Founder of Censinet. “Health systems face a unique portfolio of risks in caring for patients. Our laser focus on healthcare enables us to continually deliver industry-driven solutions that general-purpose risk solutions just can’t. Censinet RiskOps for Research & IRB exemplifies that.”
As part of the IRB review process, institutions contributing and managing subject data must ensure they manage it appropriately while ensuring that measures are put in place for protection. Too often, these research projects are run by professionals with limited or no experience with cybersecurity, repeatedly without the oversight of the CISO or risk IT team. In the too infrequent event that a cybersecurity risk assessment is done for research, it’s likely using the same antiquated spreadsheet methods now superseded by Censinet RiskOps. For research and IRBs, Censinet RiskOps for Research & IRB help assess and manage the cybersecurity risk to a hospital system’s sharing PHI with researchers. General IRB workflow tools do not cover this cybersecurity approach because they focus on study oversight, not on data protection.
“Protecting data in support of IRB research studies is a core pillar of our cybersecurity program at Intermountain Healthcare, and IRB assessments represent a significant portion of our overall risk assessments annually,” said Erik Decker, Assistant Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at Intermountain Healthcare. “Censinet RiskOps enables us to automate IRB risk assessments on the same platform we use for IT vendor and product assessments, consolidating, coordinating, and unifying our cybersecurity risk management program.” Censinet RiskOps for Research & IRB is available now. For a live preview of the research and IRB workflows, along with Censinet’s market-leading vendor risk management capabilities, please visit censinet.com/riskops-demo-request.

UTHealth Selects Houston-based ReMedi Health Solutions to Conduct Physician Personalization
“Physicians are the only ones that can enter the information into the systems that keep hospitals and clinics running as efficiently as possible”
As part of UTHealth’s transition to Epic, the university selected ReMedi Health Solutions to conduct Epic Personalization sessions for its clinicians, including those at UT Physicians, the clinical practice of McGovern Medical School at UTHealth, and UTHealth Harris County Psychiatric Center.
“ReMedi’s physicians were able to train UTHealth’s practitioners prior to switching to Epic,” said Babatope Fatuyi, MD, chief medical information officer at UTHealth. “The virtual model assisted our physicians in making the transition to Epic.”
ReMedi’s virtual model facilitated 2,000 Epic Personalization sessions at UTHealth to take place in just 20 days. ReMedi assisted UTHealth with scheduling and managing each appointment, offering a simple opt-in process for physicians, which resulted in over 70% adoption in the first 10 days of the project. ReMedi leveraged 20 of its EHR physician consultants to conduct peer-to-peer Epic Personalization across 18 specialties, averaging about 120 one-on-one sessions per day. ReMedi’s physicians also supported UTHealth with the implementation of Nuance’s Dragon speech-to-text software that enables physicians to dictate to Epic, in addition to Epic mobile apps Canto and Haiku. The data generated from these sessions tracked and visualized the EHR adoption and progress for UTHealth leadership.
ReMedi Health Solutions’ Chief Executive Officer, Sonny Hyare, MD, believes that the central key to success lies within physician opt-in and EHR understanding. “Physicians are the only ones that can enter the information into the systems that keep hospitals and clinics running as efficiently as possible,” Hyare said. “ReMedi is here to ensure that they know exactly how to utilize the new Epic system and that it is customized to their respective specialties.”
To shore up workflow efficiency, ReMedi built and developed an AI-powered virtual assistant to provide step-by-step workflows and access to tip sheets that help clinicians navigate the new EHR system. ReMedi plans to bring unparalleled value to UTHealth with its physician-driven approach, ensuring that the end-user experience is prioritized throughout the entire implementation process.

Fostering pediatric digital health innovation with the Bear Institute PACK event
June 11, 2021 – The Bear Institute, a strategic relationship between Children’s National Hospital and Cerner Corporation, is announcing the first annual Bear Institute PACK (Pediatric Accelerator Challenge for Kids), a start-up competition to address the gap in digital health innovation funding dedicated to children.
In 2020, children’s digital health innovation funding received $118 million compared to the $21.6 billion invested in solutions for the rest of the population. This means a mere 0.7% of digital health innovation funding was dedicated to children. This disparity points to the need for more dedicated innovation in the pediatric space and increased support given to those start-ups trying to bring new solutions to market for kids.
“Bear Institute PACK is an event for the entire pediatric healthcare community,” says Matt MacVey, Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Children’s National Hospital. “It focuses on bringing together entrepreneurs, pediatric healthcare providers and pediatric hospital administrators, and investors from around the country to help close the immense innovation gap in children’s digital health.”
Top pediatric healthcare start-ups and college student teams can submit innovations focused on the following four innovation tracks: rare disease, patient education, remote patient monitoring and telehealth. These will then showcase their solutions to pediatric hospitals, ambulatory centers, and healthcare professionals around the country. Bear Institute PACK is currently accepting submissions from start-ups and college student teams.
Participating pediatric healthcare providers and hospital and ambulatory administrators will have the opportunity to review slide decks and video submissions from each start-up and vote for those with the most beneficial solutions for kids and the pediatric healthcare community.
“The votes from pediatric healthcare providers and hospital administrators will be used to help formulate the event’s finalists,” says Brad Sitler, head of Innovation, Bear Institute for Health Innovation. “The goal of Bear Institute PACK is to engage the entire pediatric community and give them visibility to innovations that could be the solutions their organizations need.”
With the pediatric community’s involvement in Bear Institute PACK, winning health startups will come closer to bringing new digital health solutions to the pediatric healthcare market and improve the care of kids. Providers and administrators interested in participating can sign-up here.
Start-ups who are selected as finalists will then present their innovations to a panel of industry expert judges in a live virtual event on August 26, 2021. A single winner will be selected in each of the event’s four innovation tracks. The start-ups are competing for a rich prize pool, including cash prizes totaling over $100,000, on-site pilots and software development support.
For more information and to register for Bear Institute PACK as either a start-up participant or pediatric healthcare provider/hospital administrator judge, visit the Bear Institute PACK website.

Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres Advances Digital Transformation Initiative with Capsule
RECOGNIZED LEADER IN DIGITAL HEALTHCARE LEVERAGES MEDICAL DEVICE DATA FOR DATA-DRIVEN, PROACTIVE PATIENT CARE
DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES — JUNE 15, 2021 — Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres, based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is using the Capsule Medical Device Information Platform (MDIP) to power its digital transformation initiative and prepare for future imperatives, Capsule announced today.
Connecting a wide range of monitoring and therapy devices to clinical information systems, Capsule’s MDIP is also able to deliver data to clinical research, alarm management, surveillance and advanced analytics technologies.
With Capsule’s MDIP infrastructure, Medcare Hospitals is maximizing the use of medical device data to support its data-driven, proactive patient care approach.
“We’re honored to partner with Medcare to advance its digital transformation initiative,” said Hemant Goel, General Manager of Capsule, which was recently acquired by Philips. “As one of the UAE’s premier private healthcare providers, Medcare has built a reputation for clinical excellence and leadership in the advancement of patient safety. Our collaboration starts with device connectivity to simplify clinical documentation, which lays the groundwork for integrating additional systems that will help further Medcare’s delivery of proactive and predictive care.”
Medcare Hospitals recently won a MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Digital Award for “Best Use of Digital in Healthcare” for its smart Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbot, an end-to-end appointment management platform that does not require human intervention. The chatbot has increased the call center efficiencies and demonstrates its digital transformation gains.
“Capsule shares our vision of empowering clinicians with the right data at the right time to enhance patient safety and the patient experience at our facilities,” said Medcare Group CEO Andre Daoud. “We’ve built our health system around innovation and the modernization of healthcare delivery. Capsule, likewise, has developed an innovative platform that captures and contextualizes medical device information, providing timely patient status at the point of care. We believe that this approach will help us further improve overall patient satisfaction through better communication and digitalization.”
The Capsule MDIP captures high fidelity, streaming clinical data from devices at a patient’s bedside and transforms it into context-rich information for clinical documentation, alarm management, patient surveillance, decision support, predictive analytics, clinical research and more.
Medcare Hospitals will deploy Capsule MDIP across 157 beds at its four hospitals in the UAE. Capsule Axon connectivity hubs and Neuron clinical computers support connectivity, which share physiologic measurements and waveforms with Medcare’s electronic medical record system.
