Spok Debuts Latest Evolution of Spok Care Connect® with Enhanced Clinical Context, Powerful Integrations
SPRINGFIELD, VA – February 7, 2017 — Spok, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Spok Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPOK) and the leader in healthcare communications, will demonstrate the latest evolution of its integrated communications platform at the 2017 HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition, to be held Feb. 19-23 in Orlando. This release of Spok Care Connect® offers new functionality to deliver smarter clinical communications that enable care teams to improve the delivery of patient care.
Spok Care Connect now gives clinicians the ability to add clinical context to a secure message to aid in decision-making, regardless of what device is used. Spok Care Connect pulls relevant information from a hospital’s admit, discharge, and transfer (ADT) system to include in alerts and alarm notifications. This enables physicians and nurses to be better informed and respond more effectively for their patients.
For example, when a nurse call is initiated from a patient room, the assigned nurse will also be notified of any relevant patient information, such as allergies or the fact that the patient is a fall risk. This helps them to prioritize and speed response to the patient. This message can also be sent to the clinician’s device of choice: Spok is device-neutral, so there is no need to dictate the type of device each clinician needs to carry.
“The patient-centric messaging capabilities of Spok Care Connect now allow physicians and nurses to have more clinically relevant information at their fingertips to support care decisions,” said Hemant Goel, president of Spok, Inc. “These new features are a direct result of listening to our customers and translating their feedback into enhanced solutions.”
Also supporting the Spok Care Connect platform are powerful new integrations with the solutions of Rauland-Borg and QGenda. The Spok suite now includes support for the latest technology from the Rauland Responder® 5 system, which integrates with Spok clinical alerting via SIP protocol. Combined with ResponderSync, the improved connectivity with SIP provides faster notification and alert delivery to clinicians without the need for legacy serial TAP integration.
Spok’s new integration with QGenda, a provider of cloud-based automated physician scheduling solutions, allows physician on-call schedules to be pushed into the Spok Care Connect on-call schedules. This enables Spok to route messages to both people and third-party systems based on scheduling information that resides in QGenda. Because up-to-date schedules are available to physicians, nurses, operators, and other staff looking to coordinate care around the clock, they can be more productive and spend more time with their patients.
Other upgrades in the latest version of the Spok Care Connect platform include:
- Secure Texting: Spok Care Connect features improved reliability and a streamlined registration process for
the Spok Mobile® secure messaging app, which makes it easier for Spok Mobile customers to roll out
the solution to large numbers of clinical end users. - Hospital Contact Center: Spok console customers are able to update their availability status via
the Spok Mobile app, which then will apply across the system for all messages they receive. This allows
busy clinicians to easily update their availability status on the go and enables them to message colleagues
who are readily available and avoid disrupting those who are with patients or off-duty. - Computer Telephony Integration (CTI): Spok Care Connect is now compatible with Cisco
Unified Communications Manager (CallManager) version 11.0, and it has also received Avaya Aura®
Application Enablement Services (AES) 7 certification to support seamless integration with these systems.
Spok will have team members as well as several customers available to discuss the Spok Care Connect platform at HIMSS17 in booth 2671. Spok Care Connect will also be featured in the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase™. In addition, company executives will be available to meet with participating hospital CIOs at the CHIME/HIMSS CIO Forum, Feb. 18-19 at the Hyatt Regency Orlando.
