By Mari Savickis, Vice President, Federal Affairs
CHIME’s public policy team in Washington, D.C., invites Foundation firms to join monthly CHIME Foundation Public Policy Update webinars every third Wednesday of the month. This month’s webinar is scheduled for 2-2:30 p.m. ET on Feb. 21.
Over the past month we held two additional webinars that may be of interest: One on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) vision for the future of quality measurement and another that provided an update on Medicare telehealth reimbursement.
- On Jan. 16, CMS leadership presented an overview of “Meaningful Measures.”
- On Feb. 1, Brian Scarpelli, senior policy counsel with ACT, Pamela McNutt, senior vice president and CIO at Methodist Health System, and Nicole Kerkenbush, chief performance officer at Regional Health, discussed telehealth reimbursement and other issues.
Foundation firm members should email us at [email protected] if you would like to sign up for our upcoming webinar or would like to review material covered in previous webinars.
We also have identified opportunities for Foundation firm members to participate on federal workgroups.
Foundation firm members who want to share their expertise with policy makers can apply to be considered for some new work groups. As part of the 21st Century Cures Act, the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) formed a committee that included private sector and federal individuals. They are tasked with making recommendations around interoperability, among many other health IT topics. CHIME has both member and Foundation firm representation on the new Health IT Advisory Committee (HITAC). HITAC met publicly for the first time Jan. 18. Materials from the meeting are here.
The new body will be reviewing the recently released Trust Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA). Those interested in volunteering for new HITAC workgroups, Trusted Exchange Framework Task Force and U.S. Core Data for Interoperability Task Force on TEFCA, can volunteer here.
