emids Taps Seasoned Healthcare Information Technology Executive Tim McMullen to Lead Provider Solutions Business
Nashville, TN – September 19, 2018 – emids, a global leader in digital solutions for healthcare, today announced key leadership appointments for its Provider business, including proven growth agent Tim McMullen as president and Dan Critchley as vice president.
McMullen brings 30-plus years’ experience building and leading high-performing teams around the globe for Fortune 500 and entrepreneurial enterprises, most recently as a member of the Global Healthcare Leadership Team for Texas-based NTT Data Services where he helped lead the successful $3 billion acquisition and merger of Dell Services. McMullen also served as senior vice president of NTT’s Healthcare and Life Sciences division, driving the growth and expansion of the consulting operation’s practice areas, solution offerings, and new business pipeline and sales. McMullen will replace Tom Niehaus, who is set to retire later this month.
“Tim has deep industry expertise and understands intimately the strategic changes our hospital, health system and provider clients are currently experiencing,” said emids Founder and CEO Saurabh Sinha. “Tim has extensive experience in, and a proven track record of, helping clients be successful by utilizing our services, which include advisory, implementation, managed services and digital solutions. We are excited to have him on board to help lead and grow the team and the business.”
Prior to NTT Data Services McMullen was president, CEO and founding partner of Franklin-based OneCore, executive vice president for Leidos Health (formerly SAIC), executive vice president for sales and marketing at Vitalize Consulting Services (VCS), senior vice president for sales and marketing at maxIT Healthcare and national vice president for First Consulting Group (FSG). He also is actively engaged in moving the industry forward. McMullen was a founding member of the College of Health Information Management Executives (CHIME) Foundation, has served on a number of CHIME planning committees through the years, and is a member of the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), the Health Research and Development Institute, and the Scottdale Institute.
McMullen began his transition into the role this week. Filling a key leadership position on his team is Critchley, who brings 20 years’ experience in clinical and financial operations across multiple hospitals and health systems, including CIO of the University of Arizona Health Network (2013-2016), director of Clinical Applications and Informatics for Essentia Health (2007-2011), and director of Cardiovascular Service for Regions Health (St. Paul, MN, 2006-2007). This is a homecoming of sorts for Critchley, who was a senior consultant for Encore Health Resources from 2011-2013 prior to its acquisition by emids in
2017. He most recently served as CEO, Managed Services for Optimum Healthcare IT.
“I’ve worked with and long respected Tim and Dan, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the talent, the leadership and the passion for the work that they bring to the team as emids transitions, grows and evolves its unique offering to the market,” said Niehaus, who announced his retirement after nearly a decade with the company, more than 30 years in the industry and the successful merger and integration of Encore following last year’s acquisition.
McMullen’s succession as president of emids Provider Solutions comes at a time of what he calls a “sea
change” in the industry.
“I feel we have a bit of a sea change about every seven years in healthcare, and with the changes happening today, it’s never been more critical for payers and providers to be able to leverage technology and data to drive the required financial and clinical outcomes,” McMullen said. “To me, there’s real power when you look at a company like emids that isn’t tied to any particular baggage in terms of any one area or product, but instead is an advisory, tech and solutions company that can leverage its knowledge, experience, and credibility against specific customer challenges. It really is a unique and envious position.”
