Industry Veteran Barb Sivek Named Vice President of CHIME Foundation
ANN ARBOR, MI, Aug. 17, 2017 – The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) is pleased to announce that Barb Sivek will assume the position of vice president of the CHIME Foundation, effective immediately. She had served as the Foundation’s interim vice president since late April in addition to leading CHIME’s operations and business management group.
“Barb has done an absolutely fabulous job in just a few months,” said CHIME President and CEO Russell Branzell. “Her efforts to retool and refocus all operations within the Foundation has already made significant positive impacts.” For instance, the CHIME Foundation and CHIME launched the CHIME Foundation Certified Healthcare Executive (CHCFE) Program in June for employees of CHIME Foundation firms. The Foundation also has expanded international opportunities for its member firms.
The CHIME Foundation includes more than 150 healthcare IT vendor partners and professional services firms. As Foundation vice president, Sivek will work with Foundation firm members to maximize opportunities to learn from top health IT leaders and derive value from their member benefits. She also will oversee the Education Foundation, which provides scholarships and tuition assistance to CHIME members and future healthcare leaders.
“It is a pleasure to be a partner with the best in the health IT industry,” Sivek said. “Our Foundation firm members strive to understand the challenges facing healthcare organizations and offer them the solutions that fit their needs and budgets. I look forward to continuing to work with our firms to enhance their ability to develop collaborative relationships in the industry and ultimately improve patient care in the U.S. and globally.”
Sivek’s broad background in the industry and in CHIME makes her well suited for the new Foundation role. Her 30-year career includes leadership roles at Cerner Corporation and Siemens Healthcare, where she was the senior director of industry relations. As a CHIME Foundation member, she served on the CHIME Board of Trustees from 2009 to 2012. She joined CHIME in 2015 as vice president of business development.
“Barb is well versed in the complexities of building solid working relationships in the healthcare setting,” said CHIME Foundation Board Chair Marc Probst. Probst is also the CIO of Intermountain Healthcare. “She also has a keen understanding of the mission of the CHIME Foundation and will build a stellar educational program for Foundation members.”
