Nordic Consulting Board Chair Bruce Cerullo Wins CHIME Foundation Industry Leader Award
ANN ARBOR, MI, Nov. 12, 2021 – With over 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Bruce Cerullo has served many times as a mission-driven leader guiding his team to success. Cerullo found an especially critical mission when he began working with the Opioid Task Force (OTF) of the College for Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). Determined to help the task force succeed in reducing untimely deaths from opioid addiction, Cerullo tirelessly worked as a key fundraiser, leveraging his healthcare industry relationships to inspire others to support the work. His dedication ensured that scores of task force volunteers from the ranks of healthcare industry experts had the support they needed to save lives through outreach, education, public policy advocacy and expert guidance for healthcare providers.
For this extraordinary commitment and leadership, as well as his steadfast support of CHIME’s mission, CHIME has recognized Cerullo with the highest honor given to a Foundation firm member by naming him as winner of the 2021 CHIME Foundation Industry Leader Award. The award recognizes a CHIME Foundation firm representative who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and made outstanding contributions to the healthcare industry, CHIME and the CHIME Foundation.
“Bruce’s dedication to furthering the life-saving work of the CHIME Opioid Task Force is truly admirable, and now even more vital in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, as the opioid crisis has intensified,” said CHIME Foundation Board Chair Shafiq Rab, MD, EVP and Chief Digital Officer for Wellforce. “His compassion for those affected by the crisis is making a palpable difference by providing real help for families and solid, expert resources for providers.”
CHIME launched the Opioid Task Force in 2018 in response to an opioid crisis so rampant that countless individuals, including CHIME members, had been seared by the pain of losing loved ones to overdoses. Cerullo led fundraising for task force accomplishments that to date include public policy initiatives, a playbook to assist providers, and an online Opioid Action Center with numerous leading-edge educational resources on emerging practices. The task force has redoubled its efforts in the wake of the pandemic, as mortality from opioid overdoses is estimated to have increased by nearly 30%.
“It’s incredible to be a part of an organization that recognized a problem and inherently felt the need to come together to create actionable tools to battle this crisis,” said Cerullo. “I am humbled to be recognized by CHIME and its members with the Foundation Industry Leader Award and look forward to continuing our important work.”
Cerullo is the Board Chair at Nordic Consulting, where he previously served as CEO from 2015 to 2019.
